Bloodborne Pathogens

Employee exposure to blood and other potentially hazardous body fluids must be considered as an urgent medical concern. NowCare provides an infection control program consisting of immunizations, health screenings education and exposure incident follow-up for all at risk employees. Part of our responsibility will be to evaluate incidents to provide appropriate baseline data for the early detection of adverse reactions. Careful recording, monitoring, and tracking of all reported exposure incidents is imperative for the safety of employees who are exposed to hazardous substances.

NowCare is well equipped and knowledgeable in post exposure grading, counseling and medical treatment in accordance with OSHA mandates and the Public Health Service Center for Disease Control's Guidelines for post exposure prophylaxis published June, 1998 and updated in 2001 and 2005.

We also offer 24-hour post exposure counseling and after hour emergency response, incident evaluation and early identification of illnesses or injuries that may result from a work site exposure. Our on-call staff will immediately answer the call for assistance during off-hours and provide telephone and/or on-site evaluation as appropriate. We also oversee the after-hours source testing requests and arrange for employee notification and counseling as soon as the tests results are available. This is especially advisable if rapid HIV screening of the source is available.
